Tulungagung, 26 August 2023, The Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business (FEBI) at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung recently held a distinguished seminar on "Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Islam," which also served as an opportunity to socialize the Vision, Mission, and Objectives of the Islamic Financial Management Program. The event featured a keynote address by Prof. Mohammad Reevany Bustami, Chairman of the Nusantara Malay Archipelago Research at the Centre for Policy Research & International Studies (CenPRIS), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
The event was opened with a welcome speech by the Dean of FEBI, Dr. H. Dede Nurohman, M.Ag. In his remarks, Dr. Dede Nurohman emphasized the importance of integrating Islamic values into modern economic practices. He highlighted the relevance of CSR from an Islamic perspective, particularly in its alignment with the principles of fairness, equity, and social justice. "The implementation of CSR is not merely a business strategy but a reflection of our responsibility to society, as mandated by Islamic teachings," he stated.
The seminar was graced by the presence of Prof. Mohammad Reevany Bustami, an esteemed scholar in the field of policy research and international studies. Prof. Bustami provided deep insights into the unique framework of CSR within Islamic finance, drawing connections between traditional Islamic principles and contemporary business ethics. His presentation underscored the role of CSR in promoting ethical business practices, fostering social welfare, and contributing to sustainable development in Muslim-majority countries.
In addition to the seminar, the event also provided a platform to socialize the Vision, Mission, and Objectives of the Islamic Financial Management Program at FEBI. The program's vision is to become a leading study program in the field of Islamic finance and capital markets, recognized for its quality, professionalism, and global competitiveness by 2027. The mission includes providing excellent education in Islamic financial management, conducting impactful research, and fostering a community-oriented approach that aligns with Islamic ethical values.
The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where students and faculty members had the opportunity to discuss various aspects of CSR in Islam and how these principles can be effectively integrated into the curriculum of the Islamic Financial Management Program.
The seminar not only enriched the understanding of CSR from an Islamic perspective but also reaffirmed FEBI’s commitment to producing graduates who are well-equipped with the knowledge and values needed to excel in the global Islamic finance industry.
